The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Communication Approaches to Teaching and Training supports graduate students from any discipline who want to strengthen their teaching portfolio or prepare for careers in education, outreach, training, and advocacy. The program equips students with essential techniques for engaging students through public speaking and storytelling, learner‑centered instructional design, and creative strategies for helping others build strong communication skills.

Designed for emerging professionals and graduate students across disciplines, the certificate can be completed in one year or at your own pace—on its own or alongside a master's or doctoral program.

Certificate Program Requirements

Required: 18 credit hours

Students may not enroll in both the P.B.C. in Communication Approaches to Teaching and Training and the P.B.C. in Communicating Innovation concurrently. Course credits earned for one certificate may not be counted towards the completion of the other certificate.

Students in either certificate program who would like to enter the M.A. in Communication Studies must consult with the Graduate Program Director before their initial certificate is conferred.
