Admission Requirements

Successful completion of JNS 102 level or equivalent required for admission to the certificate. 

Progression Requirements

• For students starting at JNS 203:
  • JNS 203 and JNS 204 and
  • Two courses (6 credits) from among the following options: JNS 301, JNS 302, JNS 305, JNS 306, JNS 499
• For students starting at JNS 204:
  • JNS 204 and
  • Three courses (9 credits) from among the following options: JNS 301, JNS 302, JNS 305, JNS 306, JNS 499
• For students starting at the 300-level:
  • Four courses (12 credits) from among the following options: JNS 301, JNS 302, JNS 305, JNS 306, JNS 499

Certificate Program Requirements

• Minimum of 12 credits of course work in Japanese language and culture at the 200 level and above.
• Minimum C- grade required in all courses for the certificate.
